Las lombrices intestinales constituyen un problema común en los niños y se pueden diseminar a los adultos (particularmente a los padres u otras personas que los cuidan). Para obtener una muestra, se presiona un pedazo de cinta adhesiva de celofán contra el orificio anal del paciente para que el lado pegajoso de la cinta recoja los huevos de las lombrices. Luego, se pega la cinta a la lámina del microscopio para observar los huevos. Los huevos se pueden observar fácilmente bajo el microscopio y son como se ven arriba.
