Cateterización cardíaca

La cateterización cardíaca es utilizada para estudiar las diversas funciones del corazón. A través de diferentes técnicas, las arterias coronarias se pueden ver al inyectar un medio de contraste o se pueden destapar con una angioplastia de balón. Con ella, también es posible medir la concentración de oxígeno entre las válvulas y las paredes del corazón, así como las presiones dentro de cada cavidad cardíaca y a través de las válvulas. Esta técnica puede realizarse hasta en niños pequeños y en recién nacidos.
