Lipoma en el brazo
El lipoma es un crecimiento benigno de células de tejido adiposo que se puede desarrollar en casi cualquier órgano del cuerpo, aunque se encuentra más comúnmente en la capa subcutánea justo bajo la piel. Un lipoma generalmente crece en forma lenta y es una masa indolora suave y móvil bajo la piel. Los lipomas también pueden estar asociados con otros síndromes donde no son tan dañinos. En la rara enfermedad adiposis dolorosa se presenta hinchazón del cuerpo y depósitos grasos (lipomas) que ejercen presión sobre los nervios, ocasionando debilidad y algunas veces dolor extremo. El grado de molestia, irritación o dolor a causa del crecimiento de un lipoma depende de en qué parte del cuerpo y que órgano o tejido circundante ha afectado el lipoma.
