Causas de las protuberancias de seno

La mayoría de las protuberancias de seno es benigna, como lo es también el fibroadenoma, una condición que afecta en su mayoría a las mujeres menores de 30 años. La enfermedad fibroquística de seno se presenta en más del 60% de la población femenina. Los quistes de dicha enfermedad cambian de tamaño con el ciclo menstrual, mientras que las protuberancias del fibroadenoma no lo hacen. A pesar de que la mayoría de protuberancias de seno es benigna, es importante identificar aquellas que no lo son. El médico debe evaluar toda nueva protuberancia persistente, dura, creciente, inmóvil o que cause deformidades de la piel.
