El trastorno bipolar de la personalidad es un trastorno anímico caracterizado por episodios de manía y depresión grave. El tratamiento con litio o medicamentos para estabilizar el ánimo puede resultar efectivo, pero, debido a que los regímenes de medicación a veces son difíciles de tolerar y mantener, el riesgo de sufrir una recaída es mayor.
