Mixoma de la aurícula izquierda

El mixoma es un tumor benigno que se origina comúnmente en la aurícula izquierda del corazón. Acerca de 75% de los mixomas se forman en la aurícula izquierda; se originan en la pared que divide las cámaras inferiores del corazón o ventrículos y se manifiestan hacia el interior de la aurícula. Es necesario seguir un tratamiento para evitar la metástasis y la formación de coágulos. Además, sin tratamiento, el crecimiento del tumor puede obstruir el flujo sanguíneo hacia el corazón. Los mixomas se solucionan con extirpación quirúrgica.
