Ácidos transgrasos

Los ácidos transgrasos son grasas manufacturadas creadas durante un proceso llamado hidrogenación, el cual apunta a estabilizar los aceites poliinsaturados con el fin de evitar que se vuelvan rancios y para mantenerlos sólidos a temperatura ambiente. Estos ácidos pueden ser particularmente peligrosos para el corazón y pueden ofrecer riesgo para el desarrollo de ciertos cánceres. Las grasas hidrogenadas se utilizan en la margarina espesa, comidas rápidas, productos comerciales horneados (donas, bizcochos, galletas), alimentos procesados y fritos.
