Sistema nervioso central

El sistema nervioso central está compuesto por el cerebro y la médula espinal. La función del primero es recibir los impulsos nerviosos de la médula espinal y los nervios craneanos, mientras que la segunda contiene los nervios que transportan los mensajes entre el cerebro y el cuerpo. La lesión a la médula espinal puede ocurrir cuando hay daño a las células dentro de la misma o cuando los tractos nerviosos que suben y bajan a través de ella resultan seccionados.
