Desgarro versus herida penetrante:

Un desgarro es una herida producida por la ruptura del tejido blando del cuerpo y a menudo es irregular y con apariencia mellada. Asímismo, un desgarro con frecuencia está contaminado con bacterias y residuos de cualquiera que sea el objeto que haya causado el corte.

Una herida penetrante generalmente es causada por un objeto puntiagudo como un clavo, los dientes de un animal o una puntilla. Este tipo de herida usualmente no sangra en exceso y puede parecer que se cierra. Igualmente, estas heridas penetrantes son propensas a las infecciones y deben ser tratadas de manera apropiada.
