Varicela:

La varicela es causada por el virus varicella-zoster, el cual es un miembro de la familia del virus del herpes. El mismo virus también causa herpes zoster, culebrilla, en adultos. La varicela es altamente contagiosa y puede diseminarse por contacto directo, transmisión de gotitas o por transmisión aérea. Los síntomas van desde fiebre, dolor de cabeza, dolor de estómago o pérdida del apetito antes de estallar en la erupción clásica. La erupción puede consistir en la aparición de varios cientos de pequeñas ampollas llenas de líquido que producen picazón sobre las manchas rojas de la piel. Las ampollas usualmente aparecen primero en la cara, en el tronco o en el cuero cabelludo y luego se diseminan a otras partes del cuerpo.
