La esporotricosis es una infección micótica que se presenta por lo general tras sufrir una lesión al trabajar en el jardín o en el campo. Las esporas que habitan en la vegetación entran en la piel y comienzan a crecer, y así se desarrolla un hongo que viaja por los conductos linfáticos hasta llegar a la extremidad. Se presentan lesiones granulomatosas a lo largo de los conductos linfáticos, las cuales se ulceran y luego drenan. Esta condición puede perdurar muchos años si no se la trata.
