Ojos inyectados de sangre

La porción blanca del ojo (esclerótica) puede aparecer de color rojo cuando se presenta agrandamiento de los vasos sanguíneos en la superficie. Esto puede provenir de irritación mecánica, irritantes ambientales (como el aire extremadamente seco, exposición excesiva al sol), reacciones alérgicas, infección u otras condiciones médicas. Un área sanguinolenta de color rojo brillante y uniformemente densa en la esclerótica es el resultado de una pequeña cantidad de sangrado (hemorragia) dentro de la conjuntiva. Es una afección muy común, generalmente causada por esfuerzo físico o tos y normalmente se resuelve por sí sola después de unos cuantos días.
