Sentido de la vista

La visión ocurre cuando la luz es procesada por el ojo e interpretada por el cerebro. La luz pasa a través de la superficie transparente del ojo o córnea. La pupila, que es la abertura negra en la parte anterior del ojo, es un orificio hacia el interior de éste. Ella puede agrandarse o encogerse para regular la cantidad de luz que entra al ojo. La porción coloreada o iris es en realidad un músculo que controla el tamaño de la pupila. El interior del ojo está lleno de un líquido gelatinoso. El ojo tiene un cristalino transparente que enfoca la luz de manera que ésta llegue a la parte posterior del ojo o retina. La retina convierte la energía lumínica en impulsos nerviosos que son conducidos al cerebro y luego interpretados.
