El melanoma es un tumor maligno de la piel que afecta las células cutáneas que producen pigmento (melanina). El riesgo de melanoma aumenta con la edad, pero con frecuencia afecta a personas jóvenes y, de otra manera, saludables. El melanoma es la primera causa de muertes por cáncer en mujeres entre 25 y 30 años de edad.
