Para obtener una muestra de tejido linfático para biopsia se inserta una aguja dentro del ganglio linfático y se toma una muestra de líquido para ser enviada al laboratorio. En la prueba de laboratorio se aíslan e identifican organismos que causan infección. Esta prueba puede realizarse si se sospecha de peste, de otra manera, muy raramente se practica.
