La mordedura de un animal puede parecer inofensiva; sin embargo, si no recibe tratamiento puede conllevar a una infección grave. La mordedura de un animal debe limpiarse adecuadamente y la herida debe mantenerse bajo observación para detectar cualquier signo de infección. Si una persona ha sido mordida por un animal salvaje se debe mantener al animal en observación por si aparece cualquier signo de rabia.
