Defecto congénito del corazón - Serie

Cuidados postoperatorios:

La mayoría de los niños necesita permanecer en la unidad de cuidados intensivos de tres a siete días y en el hospital de 5 a 14 días.

Antes de salir de la unidad de cuidados intensivos, al niño le retiran la mayoría de los tubos y sondas y se le estimula para que reanude sus actividades diarias. Al tiempo del alta hospitalaria se les instruye a los padres sobre qué actividades puede el niño emprender, cómo cuidar la incisión y cómo administrar los medicamentos que pueda necesitar, como Digoxin, Lasix, Aldactone y Coumadin. El proceso de recuperación exige que el niño permanezca en la casa por varias semanas.
