La inserción del tubo en el oído disminuye el dolor y restablece la audición de inmediato. Normalmente, los pacientes dejan el hospital el mismo día de la cirugía. La mayoría de las personas a quienes se les ha hecho la inserción de un tubo en el oído se siente muy satisfecha con los resultados y la frecuencia y severidad de las infecciones de oído medio disminuyen significativamente.
