El segundo método quirúrgico de prostatectomía se llama abordaje "suprapúbico". Se hace una incisión en el abdomen, justo debajo del ombligo, que se extiende en forma descendente hasta el hueso púbico. Este método permite la extirpación de más tejidos, incluso los ganglios linfáticos y el tejido que rodea la próstata. Generalmente, se utiliza en el caso de un cáncer más avanzado que se ha extendido a los ganglios linfáticos de la pelvis.
