Procedimiento

La circuncisión de un niño recién nacido se hace antes de que abandone el hospital. Se inyecta un medicamento para adormecer el miembro (un anestésico local como Xylocaína) con el fin de disminuir el dolor. Se coloca una pinza tipo anillo alrededor del prepucio, se aprieta como un torniquete para reducir el sangrado y luego se corta el prepucio por debajo de la pinza. Algunas veces se utiliza una pinza plástica (Plastibell). La Plastibell se cae por sí sola, entre cinco y ocho días después de que la zona intervenida ha cicatrizado.
