Indicaciones

El área de la laringe que se encuentra unida a los cartílagos cricoideo y tiroideo sufre, con frecuencia, obstrucciones causadas por cuerpos extraños que han sido ingeridos o por crecimiento anormal de tejidos. La cricotirotomía es un procedimiento de emergencia que libera al conducto de aire de la obstrucción hasta que se pueda implantar con cirugía un tubo que permita la respiración: una traqueostomía.
