Cirugía de columna lumbar - Serie

Procedimiento:

El hueso que rodea y cubre la médula espinal (lámina) es extraído (laminectomía) y se extirpa el tejido que está causando presión sobre el nervio o la médula. El orificio a través del cual pasa el nervio se ensancha para prevenir que siga presionando sobre el nervio.

En algunas ocasiones, se utiliza un pedazo de hueso (injerto de hueso) o varillas de metal (tales como varillas de Harrington) para fortalecer el área de la cirugía.
