El conteo sanguíneo completo (CSC) es un examen de tamizaje que se utiliza para diagnosticar y manejar numerosas enfermedades. Dicho conteo puede reflejar problemas con el volumen de fluido, como deshidratación, o pérdida de sangre y puede mostrar anomalías en la producción, período de vida y destrucción de los glóbulos. Asimismo, puede reflejar la presencia de infecciones crónicas o agudas, alergias y problemas de coagulación.

Con el conteo sanguíneo completo se aislan y cuentan los 6 tipos de células que se encuentran en la sangre: eosinófilos, neutrófilos, células en banda, glóbulos rojos, linfocitos y monocitos.
