El primer paso en el control de la enfermedad de reflujo esofágico es el tratamiento médico. Si los medicamentos no eliminan estos síntomas, puede ser necesario realizar tratamiento quirúrgico.

El principal tratamiento quirúrgico para el reflujo del esófago se llama funduplicatura del esófago. La funduplicatura puede realizarse a través de una incisión en la parte superior de la línea media o mediante la laparoscopia.
