El cirujano lleva a cabo una queratectomía, un procedimiento que utiliza un pequeño instrumento que hace un corte en la córnea a medida que se mueve a través de ella, para crear un colgajo corneal. El colgajo se levanta y se dobla hacia atrás exponiendo la córnea por debajo.
