The transport staff consists of nurses with at least 2 years of critical care experience, paramedics and emergency medical technicians. Medical direction is provided by University of Maryland Emergency Medicine physicians.

The transport team consists of pediatric nurses with at least 2 years of critical care experience, paramedics and emergency medical technicians, who take direction for each patient transport from the attending physician in the pediatric intensive care unit. The Maryland Regional Neonatal Transport Program, a joint program between the University of Maryland Medical Center and Johns Hopkins Hospital, provides free, 24-hour-a-day transport by ambulance or air from community hospitals to UMMC or Johns Hopkins.
