
Dr. Bernstein is an associate professor of Ophthalmology and Visual Sciences and director of molecular research at the University of Maryland School of Medicine. He is a graduate of the Philadelphia College of Pharmacy and Science (B.Sc. Microbiology) and Cornell University (Ph.D. Neurobiology). In addition, he also filled an ophthalmology residency at the Medical College of Virginia, had a medical internship at Maimonides Medical Center in Brooklyn, New York and also completed a fellowship in ophthalmic genetics at the National Eye Institute in Bethesda, Maryland. His special interests include mechanisms of retinal aging, age-related macular degeneration, ophthalmic genetics and molecular biology of retinal disease.
