Sunni Leigh Houston, O.D.

Instructor of Ophthamology
Ophthalmology and Visual Sciences

Before coming to the University of Maryland Medical Center, Dr. Sunni Houston worked as an optometry student intern for several practices throughout Boston, Massachusetts while pursuing her O.D. at the New England College of Optometry, which she received in 2008.

Dr. Houston has also worked for the University of Maryland Medical System since 2007 as an Optometry Student Intern. She has worked in both the Eye Clinic at the Baltimore VA Medical Center and the Department of Ophthamology and Visual Sciences at the University of Maryland Medical Center. She has given lectures and presentations at both the American Academy of Optometry and Salus University, and is also an experienced researcher who was recently involved in a phase III study of the efficacy, safety, and tolerability of repeated doses of intravitreal VEGF trap in individuals with neovascular age-related macular degeneration.

Dr. Houston received her B.S. in Behavioral Neuroscience from Washington College in Chestertown, Maryland in 2003. She is an active member of both the MOA and AOSA.
