Family and Community Medicine Residency Program

Curriculum

The Family Medicine curriculum is designed to encompass an array of disciplines the first year. As residents progress, more time is allotted to the University Family Medicine, our Family Practice center. First year residents spend one set half-day per week at UFM. Second year residents have 2- 3 half-days each week. Third year residents have 4 set half days and an evening session each week.

Year One
Orientation (1 week) Adult Med – 2 CCU/ICU – 2 OB/GYN – 2 Surgery -1 Inpatient Peds -1 Peds ER- 1 Nursery/ Housecalls - 1 month Family Medicine Inpatient -2 University Family Medicine Outpatient Ambulatory- 1 month Practice Management- Longitudinal

Year Two
Adult Medicine -2 Outpatient Peds -1 OB -1 Family Medicine Inpatient -6 weeks Behavioral Science -1 Outpatient Surgery -1 Adult ER -1 Chronic Care- 2wks Orthopedics / Sports Medicine - 1 Dermatology -1 Cardiology -1 Elective(Home) -1 Practice Management- Longitudinal Long Term Care- Longitudinal

Year Three
Family Medicine Inpatient -6 weeks Outpatient Peds -1 Community Medicine -1 Orthopedics / Sports Medicine-1 GYN -1 Surgical sub- specialties -1 ER Fast Track -1 Electives -3 (2home &1 away) Practice Management – 2wks Behavioral Medicine -1 Geriatrics -1 Long Term Care- Longitudinal
