Gamma Knife Center

Treatment Team

The Gamma Knife interdisciplinary team

The Gamma Knife interdisciplinary team includes: Dr. Pardip Amin, Dr. Robert Slawson, Yuanming Feng, Ph.D., Dr. William Regine, Dr. Young Kwok, Dr. William Maggio and Terri Biggins, R.N.

When a patient is referred for possible Gamma Knife treatment, the interdisciplinary treatment team meets to discuss the case.

The team is led by neurosurgery and radiation oncology faculty at the University of Maryland Medical Center, who coordinate the efforts of radiation physicists, neuro-radiologists, and Gamma Knife nurses.

Together, this team offers the array of knowledge and perspectives that ensures evaluations are thorough and that each treatment plan is tailored to the patient's unique medical needs.

Evaluation begins with a review of the patient's medical history, present condition, and previous treatments and surgeries. New MRI, CT, and/or MRA studies may be required to evaluate fully the shape, size, and location of the lesion. The Gamma Knife team will discuss its findings with the patient and the primary care physician and, if indicated, recommend a plan for treatment.
