The University of Maryland's Division of Division of General and Oncologic Surgery was established in 1990. It is now under the direction of Adrian Park, M.D., a nationally known leader in laparoscopic surgery who is chief of general surgery at the University of Maryland Medical Center and professor of surgery at the University of Maryland School of Medicine.
A pioneer in the area of minimally invasive procedures for treating a wide variety of disorders, UM Division of General and Oncologic Surgery continues and advances a long tradition of innovation. The program's mission is threefold: provide excellent service and care for patients; train students and practicing surgeons; and advance minimally invasive surgery through the application of new, innovative technologies.
