Systems Based Practice

Health Care System and Resources

Instruction on health care delivery systems may include, but is not limited to, clinical teaching, patient safety projects, systems based approach to M & M, lectures, seminars, and working with interdisciplinary teams. Content may include:

different types of medical practice and delivery systems
system resources
systems issues and the reduction of error, including root cause analysis
tools and techniques for controlling costs and allocating resources
understanding financing and insurance structures
evaluating risk and benefit costly prescribing

Here are a number of other resources that may also be useful to you in the development and implementation of program's approach to competency and outcomes assessment and improvement. The information contained in these approaches reflects those undertaken by your UMMC's colleagues, as well as others in your profession to develop and implement the Systems Based Practice competency within their program or institution.
