RESOURCES:

ACGME has provided a Facilitator's Guide, "An Introduction to Competency-based Residency Education,"©ACGME  (April, 2006; B. Joyce, Ph.D), and a Virtual Program Director's Handbook. You may click on the document name to access these resources, or may visit the ACGME website at www.acgme.org. Additionally, the current  Common Program Requirements (effective 7/1/07) also are available at the ACGME website with a  Program Director's Guide to the Common Program Requirements to provide clarification about the competency language and to provide guidance as to documentation needed to show fulfillment of the competencies. The ACGME Policies and Procedures Manual can also be an excellent resource in understanding the overall accreditation processes.

During your upcoming site visit, you may be required to complete a Program Information Form (PIF) Transition Document.  To determine if you need to complete this in addition to your specialty PIF, please click here for more information.
