The University of Maryland is excited to announce that Baltimore Magazine has named two vendors from its University Farmers' Market as "Baltimore's Best" when it comes to serving customers fantastic food and delicious desserts.

Mallow Munchies, which offers a gourmet twist on the standard rice crispy treat, has been named Baltimore's best "Sweet Snack."

"We are so tickled that Mallow Munchies has been voted Best Sweet Snack of Baltimore by Baltimore Magazine! It is such a great honor for us to be included among the best food, restaurants and destinations in the city!" says owner Nikki Lewis.

The marshmallow used in Lewis' tasty treats is made from scratch using all natural ingredients, and there are six different types of treats from which customers can choose, including Original Munch, Marble Munch, and Crunch Munch.

Another University Farmers' Market vendor, Max's Empanadas, which offers fresh, authentic Argentine empanadas, pastries and salads, has been named Baltimore's Best "Lunch (Casual)" by the magazine's editors.

In addition to appearing at the University Farmers' Market each week, Max's Empanadas can also be found in Baltimore's Little Italy, with a restaurant located at 313 S. High Street. Customers can enjoy a beef, chicken or mixed vegetable empanada and top off their meal with one of Max's Argentine-inspired desserts.

Both Mallow Munchies and Max's Empanadas are featured in the August 2010 edition of Baltimore Magazine. Pick up a copy at a local retailer or visit the magazine's Web site for more information and to see all of "Baltimore's Best."
