Reverse Shoulder Replacement

In this video, Syed Ashfaq Hasan, M.D., associate professor of orthopaedics and chief of the UMMC Shoulder and Elbow program, talks about the indications for reverse shoulder arthroplasty/replacement a type of shoulder replacement utilized when an individual has a massive, irreparable rotator cuff tear. This massive tear can be seen as part of the natural aging process or in the setting of a prior, failed surgery, including failed shoulder replacement. Dr. Hasan reviews the anatomy and biomechanics, as well as the surgical technique and outcomes of reverse shoulder arthroplasty.
