Cardiac Procedural Areas

The Cardiac Procedural Areas at the University of Maryland Medical Center are exciting and challenging places to work. The procedural areas include the following:

  • Cardiac Catherization Lab which performs diagnostic and interventional cardiac procedures as well a peripheral angiography and peripheral interventions
  • Cardiology Prep and Recovery (CPRU) is a 12-bed monitored unit that provides both the preparation and recovery services for patients in the Cardiac Catheterization Lab, the Electrophysiology Lab, and other Cardiology Services.
  • ECHO Lab which provide diagnostic echocardiographic services
  • Electrophysiology Lab which conducts testing for cardiac rhythm disturbances
  • Hybrid OR brings together interventional cardiology and cardiac surgery for the most sophisticated patient care and procedures ranging from interventional stents to minimally invasive bypass surgery, transcatheter valve replacement and traditional open heart surgery.
  • Non-invasive Cardiology Lab provides testing services to outpatients in all units and patient care areas of UMMC. The major services performed in the non-invasive lab are electrocardiograms, stress tests, Holter monitor and Event Recordings.
