The University of Maryland School of Medicine's Department of Medicine offers a three-year ACGME accredited and American College of Cardiology-recognized fellowship program in Cardiovascular Disease. Following successful completion of this program, fellows are eligible to take the ABIM sub-specialty exam in Cardiovascular Disease for board certification. Our last ACGME review took place in 2008, with full five-year accreditation for all cardiovascular subspecialties, including additional training in Interventional Cardiology and Clinical Cardiac Electrophysiology.
The Division of Cardiology will soon diversify even further with expanded accredited training in Cardiomyopathy and Transplantation. The 36 months of general fellowship training are divided as follows in accordance with the American College of Cardiology recommendations:
