New techniques are being developed, which will in the future allow replacing an aortic valve by using an expanded percutaneous approach.

Currently developed technology uses a guide wire placed through the femoral artery, much like the situation with coronary angioplasty. However, technology as it exists today is somewhat larger than typical angioplasty technology.

Although the technology exists it is our opinion that it is not yet safe enough to be recommended over techniques discussed on this Web site. It is our intent to be involved in the development of these percutaneous techniques to bring them to wide applicability safely.
