Preoperative Readiness and Evaluation Preparation (PREP) Center

The PREP Center is on the 8th floor of the University of Maryland Medical Center. Many patients will utilize PREP Center services for pre-surgical testing. These tests include blood tests, an electrocardiogram and a chest X-ray.

Patients may also come to the PREP Center to meet with the doctor about anesthesia choices and pain control. They may also meet with the nurse practitioner, who will do a physical exam, discuss the medical history and give the patient special instructions.

The physician will tell the patient if other testing is necessary beyond what is provided at the PREP Center.
