Electrophysiology (EP) Lab

The Maryland Heart Center has two state-of-the-art electrophysiology (EP) suites located on the third floor of the North Hospital, just down the hall from the cardiac catheterization lab.

Studies and procedures dealing with the heart’s electrical system are performed in these labs. EP studies allow physicians to diagnose causes of abormal heart rhythms (arrhythmias) and determine the appropriate treatment.

Treatment may include pacemakers, defibrillators, medications or an ablation (elimination of the abnormal tissue).
