Kevin J. Cullen, M.D., director of the University of Maryland Greenebaum Cancer Center, was recently selected by President Barack Obama to serve on the National Cancer Advisory Board (NCAB), an advisory committee to the U.S. National Cancer Institute (NCI).
The National Cancer Advisory Board advises the secretary of the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services and the NCI director on issues that relate to the activities of the institute, including reviewing and recommending support grants and cooperative agreements. It consists of 18 members appointed by the president from leading health and scientific disciplines as well as other fields such as economics, public policy, health policy, economics, management and the environment. In this video, Dr. Cullen briefly discusses the role of the NCAB.
