Overview:

Dr. Steven Feigenberg, a radiation oncologist at the University of Maryland Marlene and Stewart Greenebaum Cancer Center and an associate professor of radiation oncology at the University of Maryland School of Medicine, discusses a study that compared outcomes for young women with early-stage breast cancer who had breast conservation therapy and those who had a mastectomy. The study found similar survival rates for both groups of women. Dr. Feigenberg is the senior author of the study, which looked at data from nearly 15,000 patients, age 20 to 39, listed in a nationwide cancer registry.
