Overview:

In this nine-minute video, Dr. Rajabrata Sarkar, Chief of Vascular Surgery at the University of Maryland Medical Center, provides an overview of aortic aneurysms and discusses the case of patient Allen Weller who came to the Medical Center in August 2010 with a ruptured aortic aneurysm. Because Allen arrived at the Medical Center with no detectable blood pressure, Dr. Sarkar discusses the steps that were taken prior to surgery to revive him. He also talks about how he located the aneurysm, the operation he performed to repair it and the importance of vascular screening to locate possible aneurysms before they rupture.
