In this three-minute video, Karen Doyle, Vice President of the R Adams Cowley Shock Trauma Center, discusses the newest trauma care facility to be added to the University of Maryland Medical Center's downtown campus. Construction on this facility began with a groundbreaking ceremony on May 13, 2010 and is set to be completed by 2013.
Doyle explains how this new facility will enhance the current care provided to patients at the Shock Trauma Center through state-of-the-art technology and improved patient and family accommodations. She also touches upon the benefits associated with the new facility housing the National Training and Simulation Center, which will be used to educate and train civilian and military health care providers throughout the region. She hopes the new facility will continue the Shock Trauma Center's current mission of providing the highest level of trauma care to all citizens in the state of Maryland.
