Overview:

Kathryn Stuart came to UMMC for a kidney-pancreas-transplant in January 2008. A diabetic for 32 years, Kathryn's kidney function eventually got to the point where she needed a transplant. Kathryn then went on the web and did research on the University of Maryland Medical Center and other facilities. She made a pre-transplant appointment in September 2007 and decided to have her transplant here because she was impressed with the doctors and the facility. Kathryn had her surgery on January 29, 2008, and says transplant surgeon Dr. Matthew Cooper, who performed her surgery, is not only a great surgeon but also a very compassionate man. Hear what Kathryn has to say about her experience and the care she received at the Medical Center.
