Lots of people make jokes about colonoscopies, which seem like a rite of passage for anyone over age 50. But in 2010, the American Cancer Society estimated that 102,900 new cases of colon cancer were diagnosed in the United States. Although colon cancer is among the most common forms of cancer, many people are reluctant to be screened.
In this interview, Dr. Nader Hanna from the University of Maryland Greenebaum Cancer Center discusses colon and rectal cancer as well as screening and treatment, including advances in minimally invasive and robotic surgery.
