Dr. Thomas Le is a double board-certified, fellowship-trained facial plastic surgeon.
He is currently Director of Facial Plastic Surgery at the University of Maryland Medical Center and an Assistant Professor at the University of Maryland School of Medicine in the Department of Otorhinolaryngology-Head & Neck Surgery. In addition to managing a premier facial cosmetic surgery practice, he serves as a facial reconstructive specialist for Shock Trauma Associates and the Baltimore Veterans Administration Medical Center.
Dr. Le's practice focuses exclusively in the face and neck. Because of his rigorous training in both head and neck surgery as well as in facial plastic surgery, Dr. Le is exceptionally qualified to deal with cosmetic issues in the face while at the same time safeguarding the function of head and neck structures. In particular, Dr. Le is highly regarded as a regional authority on rhinoplasty (nose reshaping) and revision rhinoplasty. His interests also include aging face surgery (eyelift, facelift, and necklift surgery).
He graduated with highest honors from the University of Louisville School of Medicine, garnering, among other awards, the Kash Award in Anatomy and Neurosciences, the Barbour Award in Pharmacology and Toxicology, and the McGraw-Hill Book Award for the outstanding medical student. His incredible accomplishments gained him early induction as a junior medical student into the Alpha Omega Alpha honorary society.
Before and during medical school, Dr. Le performed lipoprotein and molecular biology research at the National Institutes of Health in Bethesda, Md., and at Emory University in Atlanta, Ga., working under the direction of two former presidents of the American Heart Association.
Dr. Le subsequently completed an internship in General Surgery and a residency in Otolaryngology-Head and Neck Surgery at St. Louis University School of Medicine, under the direction of renowned facial cosmetic surgeon J. Regan Thomas, M.D., former president of the American Academy of Facial Plastic and Reconstructive Surgery (AAFPRS). In residency, Dr. Le logged over 2,600 facial, head, and neck procedures and won the Resident Research Award.
He then became an instructor and fellow of Facial Plastic and Reconstructive Surgery at the University of Miami in Miami, Fla., a mecca for plastic surgery. During his fellowship, Dr. Le logged over 800 advanced facial plastic procedures and worked with some of the most well-known facial plastic surgeons in the country, including Robert Simons, M.D. (also a former president of AAFPRS), Richard Davis, M.D., Julio Gallo, M.D., Brian Jewett, M.D., and Jeffrey Epstein, M.D.
