On Saturday October 20, The Maryland Center for Multiple Sclerosis collaborated with the Maryland Chapter of the National MS Society to present a one day research symposium. Held at the Towson Sheraton, over 200 people attended the program. There were 4 research presentations and a special guest appearance by David Lander ("Squiggy" from the Laverne and Shirley TV show), who stayed for several hours to sign his book on CD, "Falling Down Laughing".
The research topics presented included: New research with current treatments for MS, Basic research at the University of Maryland and VA Medical Center and The MS research pipeline for new MS treatments. The final presentation of the day was a panel discussion featuring current and former clinical trial volunteers. They shared their experiences of participating in a clinical trial and answered many questions from the audience.
The program was very well received and many attendees asked if the presentations could be archived on the MDCMS website. We are happy to have all the presentations and a summary of the panel discussion available for all on the Maryland Center for MS website.
