KERNAN HOSPITAL APPOINTS REHABILITATION CARE MEDICAL DIRECTOR

Michael Weinrich, M.D. has been named rehabilitation care medical director at Kernan Hospital. In his new position, he is responsible for overseeing the entire rehabilitation program.

Dr. Michael Weinrich served as director of the acute rehabilitation unit at Kernan from 1989-92 and then became medical director at Montebello Rehabilitation Hospital, which closed recently and became the new William Donald Shaefer Rehabilitation Center at Kernan Hospital. The 128-bed rehabilitation center is one of the largest and most sophisticated facilities of its kind in the United States. It serves patients with disabilities due to a variety of neurological disorders, including stroke, multiple sclerosis, brain and spinal cord injuries, as well as orthopaedic conditions.

Dr. Weinrich received his medical degree from Harvard Medical School. He completed an internship in medicine and a residency in neurology at the University of Chicago. Before moving to Baltimore in 1989, he was on the neurology faculty of Stanford University School of Medicine and the Veterans Administration Medical Center in Palo Alto, Calif.
