Kernan Hospital has announced its new board of trustees. Officers include: Morton I. Rapoport, M.D., (board chairman); president and chief executive officer of University of Maryland Medical System; Stephen C. Schimpff, M.D., (board secretary), executive vice president of University of Maryland Medical System; and Robert A. Chrencik, (treasurer), senior vice president for finance and systems, University of Maryland Medical System.
Other board members are Sharon L. O'Keefe, senior vice president for patient care services and operations, University of Maryland Medical System and John W. Ashworth III., senior vice president for strategic planning, University of Maryland Medical System and director of the University of Maryland Shock Trauma Center. Other board members are Oliver S. Travers, Jr., president, Schenuit Investments; Inc., John C. Unitas, vice president, MATCO; Frank M. Calia, M.D., vice dean and professor of medicine at the University of Maryland School of Medicine; Mel P. Daly, M.D., president of the medical staff at Kernan Hospital; and James E. Ross, FACHE, chief executive officer of Kernan Hospital.
In addition to the Board of Trustees, the following physicians were named to the Kernan Hospital Medical Executive Committee, Mel P. Daly, M.D., president; Gary J. Waxman, M.D., president-elect; Joseph A. Ciotola, M.D., Homer C. House, M.D., Alan F. Levitt, M.D., Dror Paley, M.D., Riyaz Jinnah, M.D., Michael Weinrich, M.D., and Kenneth Spence, Jr., M.D.
Kernan Hospital, located in Woodlawn, specializes in rehabilitation, orthopaedics and sports medicine. It is owned and operated by the University of Maryland Medical System.
